Casa is a home automation app that I designed as a free Sketch app resource for fellow designers. This product is the result of a design sprint hosted by the Design Orlando meetup.
Design Orlando originated as a local meetup for designers to gather, talk shop, and listen to the ideas of guest speakers and industry leaders. DO, born at Code School in October 2012, was quickly approaching its pivotal three-year anniversary — so we crafted an idea to take the meetup to a new level of involvement and learning.
We revamped the meetup into a collection of product design sprints with curated design teams, each creating their own iterations of a product throughout a three-month sprint.
The product team for this project sprint consisted of 8 designers. We collectively collaborated on a name and brand for Casa, while each designer created their own variation of the app (10 screens). Each Sketch file was offered as a free resource download to other designers and presented at the 3 month meetup event.
